I am an independent outdoor instructor and guide who specialises in personalised instruction and bespoke, small group guiding in Arthur's Pass National Park. 1st December 2010

Taking on new challenges. After 4 exciting years of guiding and instructing, we have decided on a change of pace. Eleanor is going back to full time employment, after 3 years of being a full time mum, and I am diving into the role of house dad and early childhood educator! This means that for the next while, I will not be available for guiding. However, we are not putting @ home in the hills out to pasture, merely leaving it to snooze for a while. We plan to re-launch @ home in the hills again in the future, in a new and revitalised form.

The Tips 'n Tricks for Trampers part of our website will remain, and I am excited to get your feedback and ideas to help improve it.

Thank you to everyone who has joined us in these wonderful hills over the last 4 years, and we wish you many more safe, sustainable and rewarding adventures. Kind regards, Hamish
