Tips 'n tricks for trampers

The author of this site, Hamish Reid, is a jack of most mountain trades, but master of none. He has been lucky enough to live and work in the mountains for most of his life, and is still excitedly learning things about them from his peers, friends, family and the hills themselves. This site is mostly aimed at those new to tramping, or those who are experienced hikers, but new to New Zealand. Hamish hopes you find it helpful.

The following is not a disclaimer, just sound advice. Please take a moment to read it. If you are new to outdoor activities, only use information from the internet, books and courses in conjunction with the friendship, guidance, advice and coaching of competant and experienced outdoors people. There is still no better way to have fun, learn skills, develop your judgement and stay safe, than to spend lots of time out there with an 'old hand'. Remember, you are entirely responsible for your safety.

Enjoy spending time @ home in the hills!
